Upcoming Rockaway Republicans Meeting in June

We'll be holding a regular club meeting, without any guest speakers, next Wednesday.

We've spent the past two years building up a real Republican alternative on the peninsula and establishing credibility for the Rockaway Republicans. We're now not only officially chartered but known and respected throughout New York. They've even heard of us outside the state!

So where do we go from here? One of our own members, Stu Mirsky, has volunteered to carry our banner into the November election in a direct challenge to long time Democratic incumbent Audrey Pheffer for her Assembly seat. Audrey's been in that seat since 1987 with barely a challenge over the past two decades and Stu is willing to give her a real race, at last, if we can get him on the ballot.

Stu spent last week racking up the support of the three GOP clubs in the 23rd AD, despite years of conflict and hard feeling that formerly divided them. All three clubs have now come together in recognition of Stu's and our work in rebuilding the GOP in South Queens.

Stu has also secured the endorsement of Queens County Republican leadership, a great coup, as well as the endorsement of the Queens Conservative Party. NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ENSURE HE GETS ON THE BALLOT since there are already rampant rumors that the Democrats plan to challenge his petition signatures. If they can disqualify enough signatures they can do to him what was done to Tom Ognibene last year and knock Stu out of the race, leaving the field open again for a Democrat to run unchallenged. WE CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN! 

We need to come together this coming Wednesday to ensure Stu's candidacy for the 23rd State Assembly seat. We need all our members to show up and help us kick off this critical period collecting petition signatures, just like we did last year for fellow Republicans Eric Ulrich and Rosemary Duffy. If we don't do this, or don't collect enough valid signatures, Stu will never make it onto the ballot and we'll be back where we started, without a political alternative on the peninsula.

WE NEED ALL OF YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER!

All members please make every effort to attend this meeting, even if you come late, just to pick up the petitions sheets.

Without your participation we will fail. But if, over the next month, every one of our members introduces him or herself to our Republican neighbors, spending one hour a night for five nights this coming month, we'll have all the signatures needed (estimated at a thousand) for Stu's securing a place on the Republican line.
