One Year Anniversary Party March 22 nd (Tuesday)

8PM at Belle Harbor Yacht Club

One year ago on March 16 th, about twenty-five of us got together at the first meeting of the newly formed Rockaway Republicans in the midst of a late season ice storm blowing in over Jamaica Bay. Many came that night to support the President who was then going into a tough election campaign. Later meetings saw even larger turnouts, including two parties we held for the president which each saw well over a hundred participants. Today, of course, the President has won his re-election (with 49% of the vote in our AD) and our Rockaway Republican e-mail distribution list has grown to about 170 folks. Now we want to get all of you together and thank you for the help and support you all offered during this recent presidential campaign!

Those who have been following our periodic email updates by now understand what an uphill fight we have been facing in trying to rebuild a Republican presence in our community. We have been ignored, and sometimes even actively opposed, by some elements of the party leadership. To this day we're still waiting for a response, one way or another, to our request to renew a charter for a Republican political club in Rockaway, a charter that was lost when the old local Republican club shut its doors after being undercut by political maneuvering elsewhere in our district in the mid-nineties.

On March 22nd, we're having a combined meeting and party to celebrate our first year in existence . . . despite all the obstacles that have arisen. We plan a short agenda with a few guests from other parts of the city who have become our friends and allies. Entertainment will be provided by Aerial Acoustics (the professional guitar duet of Dorothy Wagner & Dennis Smith). The bar will be open and catering will be provided by Ludwig’s Catering, sponsored by the Rockaway Republicans.

It does not take a majority to prevail,   but a rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfire of freedom in the minds of men- Samuel Adams.

PLEASE RSVP : For so we can gauge the amount of food we'll need to order in.
